I like it, but in my opinion "Cities" is their best album to date _________________

| I enjoyed and liked it, but I didn't think it was as good as NTFP or Cities. I really liked "The Resistance", "Blame Me! Blame Me!", and "Burn Out Brighter", but there were some songs that could've been better and I didn't feel the urge to listen to them the whole way through. |

wow how time flies, posted in this thread over a year ago...New Surrender has really grown on me in the last few months, got it on high rotation at the moment, its funny looking back on something said that many months ago.
F***ing can't wait for the next album...also in the last few months I've converted my younger brother and sister into anberlin fans. Stoked! |

i think it is FANTASTIC.
however, there isn't much new material. Like, "The Perfect Tournaquet" was off of a vinyl Anberlin had, but it's so great that they have it on an actual CD now for everyone.
the videos are pretty great, and i'm in love with "Mother." |

I really like New Surrender; I think as an album it holds up well. However, put my vote in for "Cities" as their best. I can't name a song off of that album that I don't like. *Fin... Dismantle Repair... Inevitable... Adelaide... The Unwinding Cable Car... all amazing.
That said, Breaking is a great song. And Haight Street always puts me in a good mood, couldn't tell you why. |

the new edition of New Surrender is pretty great.
"A Perfect Tourniquet" was actually only released on a 7" vinyl at first. there were only like, 900 of them.
"Mother" makes me laugh too. it's pretty much fantastic and it's so mellow! New Surrender kind of has a more urban rock feel, and i think it's a better sound for Anberlin, for sure! _________________ --laughter took place of everything we knew, we were young. |

I hope Anberlin continues to mature. I really wasn't feeling Cities when it first came out, but now I love it. An instant classic in my book. I thought that New Surrender would grow on me... It hasn't. But It does have a few memorable songs that I dig. Hopefully the next album will be a little bit harder. New Surrender was a little on the soft side. _________________

That said, Breaking is a great song. And Haight Street always puts me in a good mood, couldn't tell you why. | I like all the songs on both albums but I think by far Cities is still their best. It's got this rad feel to it from start to finish, like you're listening to one of the truly greatest albums of all time. NS lacks that rad feel, even if it is a great record all the way through. It will be hard for Anberlin to top Cities, but I think from what I hear from the studio, that they are going to make a go for it. |
